Louise Riedel Memorial Top Ten Mileage Horses - 2009
Louise started this sport in her mid 40's and was still riding when she turned 80. She accrued 16,915 AERC endurance miles and 17,055 UMECRA competitive miles.
Louise was the second UMECRA secretary, retiring from this position a couple of years before her death. She was also active in AERC during this time and was secretary of that organization for a good many years!
Remembering back when, Louise rode 100 milers, there was a story around the campfire about a 100 mile belt buckle Louise had won that never saw daylight because it was at the bottom of the camp outhouse!
Louise was the first person inducted into the UMECRA Hall of Fame. She and her horse, Caprison, are also in the AERC Hall of Fame.
The Louise Riedel Memorial Top Ten Mileage Horse Awards were started to honor Louise. She was the top mileage person for years, but is also remembered for her many years of service to our organization.
